Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, one of the flagship vehicles of Maruti Suzuki hasn’t lost its spark amongst the buyers ever since it entered the Indian market. It is getting popular day by day and it has been seeing a steady growth throughout its lifetime.
The car is stylish inside out. The exteriors aren’t jumpy but are perfectly edgy and the dual tone interiors give the car its posh look. The car is surprisingly a spacious car, it has ample space for its occupants and the driver seat is the most spacious when compared to any other car in this segment. The quality of materials used in the interior can be improved. NHV can also be improved as a lot of noise filters inside the cabin.
Wagon R Vxi+ is a very comfortable car not only from the point of view of space but also in terms of comfort and convenience features. It offers electronic power steering with tilt adjustment feature, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, manual air conditioner with heating option, front and rear power windows, all four doors central locking keyless, dashboard integrated push-type cup holders, music system, front seats with reclining and sliding function, fully foldable rear sear with additional 60:40 split function, and tailgate and fuel-tank remote opener.
Powered by k-series 998cc, 3-cylindered petrol engine punches out 68 PS of power @ 6200 rpm and 90 Nm of torque rpm at 3500 rpm. The engine is mated to a conventional 5-speed manual gearbox offering a smooth shift of gears. The lower 885 kg of kerb weight adds to the advantage as it helps the car provide better fuel efficiency and performance simultaneously. The car can give an average mileage of up to 20.5 kmpl. It can go up to a maximum speed of 152kmph. The capacity for fuel storage is 35 liters. The K10 is fairly powerful and the maintenance of the car doesn’t cost much. The diesel powertrain is not an option, its close competitor Tata Tiago in the similar price offers the diesel mill.
In terms of safety, the Wagon R Vxi+ variant features driver side airbag, front fog lamps, rear wiper/washer with defogger, headlight levelling feature, power steering with collapsible feature, security alarm, rear door child lock, body structure with energy absorbing feature, engine immobilizer, front wipers with different speed settings, impact beams incorporated on the sides and seat belt warning light. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R VXi+ variants get alloy wheels, side skirts, spoiler, projector headlamps and a driver airbag.
Solid disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear have been inset in the hatchback to ensure proficient braking when required. Handling is good enough though roll-out can be felt at high speeds which results in low high-speed stability. This apart, the car gives a smooth ride on city and highways. Petrol mill is quite peppy: it gives the perfect city ride. Optional ABS and airbags across the variants is a good move. It is easy to handle and very safe to drive around corners. For the prospective buyers who want to purchase higher trim in Wagon R range, Maruti has presented variant Vxi+ which is loaded with external and internal features.
